Burial Gowns
Every once in a while, I hear from someone that is taken a back that I sell burial gowns for babies. I am quite aware that it is a topic that few people want to think or talk about. However, I need to let you in on a little secret that women, mothers don't talk about. Everyday there are mothers that loose their babies. Sometimes by delivery, sometimes by disease or illness. In 1999, I lost my daughter Jordan at 5 months of pregnancy. She was a little more than a pound when she was delivered. Hospitals offer very little, if anything to bury your baby in. My hospital offered me something that I considered was barely more than a sackcloth. As a mother you want to protect your child. When you loose a child you feel as if you have failed. My child, my daughter was a person and I wanted to bury her in a gown. I delivered my child and then went to find her a dress. You will never guess where I found her dress. On a doll in a toy store. How ironic and painful. So I know that the death of a baby is a sensitive topic. But it's real for thousands of parents every year. Within the Baby Devine line, I offer burial gown called Baby Gabriel (named after a friend who lost her full term son right after delivery) and Baby Gabrielle for girls. My desire is to provide alternatives and maybe some comfort to mothers like me. I hope that I have broadened and possibly changed your perspective about burial gowns for babies. Sometimes God decides that he wants His Angels with Him and He calls our little ones home. One thing I remember very clearly and that has brought me comfort when I lost my baby daughter Jordan, is that "all things work together for good for them that love the Lord and are called according to His Purpose".
